Headhunters take 3rd overall team at December Jubilee Meet

The Headhunters took 3rd Team Overall at the Hillsboro Jubilee Meet. Outstanding efforts by Team Green on Sunday evening at the meet.

Congratulations Eric Wu (12) who took home the 12&U High Point Award Trophy!

The 3rd day of the meet and 5th session can often prove grueling but the Headhunters were surely up for the task Sunday evening of the meet. Awesome and memorable swims by Sruthi Ravi, Stephanie Hake and Bailey Segall going 1-2-3 in the 100 Back. Sruthi’s 1.03.9 ranks her 2nd in Oregon this season. Mark Kim (13) dipped under a minute for the first time in winning the 100 Back posting the fastest 13 year old time of the the early short season in Oregon. Mark also doubled up with a win in the 50 Free although slower than his prelim swim of 23.85 which will post as the top swim among 13 year old’s in Oregon also. Mark unfortunately Dq’ed on his final “win” of the evening after posting a fast 1.52 200 free (flinching on the start). Val Tikhomirov, Khalifha Kalahiki, Eric Wu and Abby Crowson contributed to the that team total with 2nd place finishes in the 100 IM, 100 Back, 50 Free, and 50 Fly respectively. Abby Crowson also had a win negated with a DQ after posting a 2.28 200 Fly. Jaden Kim provided another memorable moment when he posted a win in the 12&U50 Fly with a time that puts him top 10 in Oregon this year (30.1).
Eric Wu posted a lifetime best 2:00.6 in winning the 12&U 200 Free. Nabil Kalahiki and Jack Harris, both 10 and at their first prelims finals meet format were tough little guys continuing to drop time in finals going 2.17 and 2.18 respectively. Bailey Segall, Mary Grall and Hannah Clayton also demonstrated training paying off with Bailey taking 3rd in a perfectly-even-paced race and Mary dropping another 5 seconds from her already personal best prelim swim taking 5th (even if she did almost miss the event) in the 12&U event and Hannah posting a lifetime best 2:08 in her 5th place finish in the 13-14 200 Free. Tenzin Zingkha was contributed significantly to the Headhunter total with 3 finals swims taking 4th, 4th and 5th in the 100 Back, 50 Fly and 100IM respectively. Siobhan Choong continued to show good form in her breastroke taking 3rd in the 13-14 100 Breast. Finn McClone showed a flash of speed dropping another 2 seconds in the 100 back Final and Mia Kamenko ‘s 5 second drop in finals of the 200 Free were all signs of a group trying to make a push for the next level.
A final push for points was made by BOTH the 12&U Girls (Sruthi, Stephanie, Abby, & Bailey) posting an age group sectional time and WIN in the 200 Medley Relay going 2:00 and the 12&U Boys (Khalifha, Val, Jaden and Eric) who, not to be outdone, also posted a WIN in the 200 Medley Relay. The boy’s 2.00.3 just out touching the girls 200.4!

Great Job HeadHunters 9 … 10, Win … Again!
